Joan Rhea Winstead's Obituary
Joan Rhea Winstead, 86, was born April 16, 1931 in Louisville, Kentucky to Dr. Earnest E. and Grace Lee Martin. She passed away March 21, 2018 in Garland, Texas. With her inimitable style and grace, Joan is dancing in her newest adventure. In 1948, she caught the eye of military school cadet William Ellis Winstead in Dallas and they eloped to Rockwall for a quick and easy marriage. Joan spent the 1950s and 1960s making our home and raising their three boys. The 1970s featured great fun and fond memories with family and friends at their cabin at Lake Texoma. After Bill passed in 1991 and she retired from the telecom industry, Joan embarked on a life as Grandmother, extensive world traveler and developed a passion for all types of dancing, where she met wonderful people and developed friendships that continue. Joan is survived by her three boys; Billy, Bobby and Bryan and their families extending all the way to her great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Joan will be held on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at 3:00 P.M. in the Abbey Chapel of Restland Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Monday evening from 6-8:00 at Restland Funeral Home.
