Joann Tyler Powers' Obituary
Joann went to be with the Lord at the age of 92.
She was born on October 8, 1929, and after a full and healthy life died peacefully of
natural causes in her home on December 7, 2021.
Joann was born in Mexia, Texas. Due to the Depression, her family moved to Waco
so her father could better provide for her family. Years later, her family relocated to
Dallas where she married and raised a family.
Joann accepted Christ as her Savior at a Bible study in Highland Park. In 1973 she
began attending Fellowship Bible Church, now Chase Oaks Church.
She was an excellent typist and executive assistant and held several jobs including
Work Life Strategies, Shaklee, and Drake Beam Morin. She also enjoyed volunteering
for the Center for Church Renewal.
She was passionate about sewing and cooking, and in later years, enjoyed watching
Texas Rangers baseball.
She is preceded in death by her parents Dewey “Jack” Oscar and Sim Tyler and her
sister, Joyce Adkerson.
Joann is survived by her two sons, Steve Powers and David Powers (Dana)
Grandchildren: Brent Powers (Amanda), Drew Powers, Kendall Powers and Bailey
Powers. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
It was Joann's desire that God be glorified both in her life and in her death. She was
sure of her eternal hope in Christ her Savior with whom she is rejoicing today.
The celebration of life service that was going to be December 29 at 2 PM is set for Saturday,
March 26th at 1pm. The location is now at Chase Oaks Church Legacy Campus "201" Building.
