Joanne Carol Lochmeyer Grubert's Obituary
Grubert, Joanne L., was born on March 11, 1933, in Queens, NY. She attended New Paltz Teacher’s College and graduated from Adelphi University. She married her beloved Herb in 1954 in NY to whom she was married for fifty-six wonderful years until his death in 2010. After teaching third grade for one year, she devoted her time to raising her two children and moving to several new homes due to Herb’s thrilling career in the FBI. Joanne was a very devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and met everyone with a warm smile and friendly greeting. In addition to caring for her family, she enjoyed doting on her five Scottish Terriers, and she was widely known for her Scottie dogs. Joanne enjoyed playing bridge in several bridge clubs and being active in the Northwood Women's Club during many years of service. She is survived by her daughter, Christine Sullivan of Charlotte, NC, and her children, Timothy, John, Julie and husband Caleb Krautter, and Tiffany, as well as son James Grubert, his wife Barbara of Dallas, TX, and their daughter Brittany. Joanne passed away peacefully after a short illness with lung disease. A Memorial Eucharist Service will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2023, at 11:00 AM at the St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 5923 Royal Lane, Dallas, TX 75230, followed by a reception in the St. Luke’s Narthex. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association.
