Joanne Miller Wilson's Obituary
Joanne (Nona) Miller Wilson went home, surrounded by her loving family, to be with the Lord and her beloved husband on July 9, 2017. She was born on August 19, 1932 in Dallas, TX, to Amelia Miller, and married Danny Wilson on October 10, 1953. Joanne was a proud alumna of Woodrow Wilson High School, class of 1950, in Dallas and attended Arlington State College (UT Arlington). She was a teacher’s aide and an executive secretary for SMU, the Dallas Cowboys, and the Dallas Performing Arts Center. She was a proud member since 1953 at East Dallas Christian Church where she served as a deacon, an elder, worked with the children in the nursery, and volunteered in the church office. She was also a beloved Girl Scout troupe leader. Joanne is survived by her 100-year-old aunt, Josephine (Jojo) Bevacqua, her five children, Debbie and Chuck Cumming (daughter Elizabeth and husband Jeff Miller), Danny Wilson (son Justin Wilson, girlfriend Rachel Thomashefski, and daughter Megan Wilson), Diane and Jeff Joplin, Dana and Dr. Perry Beckstrom, and David (daughter Jordan Wilson) and Amanda Wilson. Other survivors include nieces, a nephew, and cousins, as well as her cherished dachshund, Bella. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to East Dallas Christian Church or Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (www.pancan.org). Visitation will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Thursday, July 13, 2017, at Restland Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM at Restland Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held Friday, July 14, 2017, at 1:00 pm at East Dallas Christian Church. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243.
