Joe Wayne Aldridge's Obituary
On July 26, 2019, Joe Wayne Aldridge stepped into heaven through faith in Jesus Christ alone.Joe was born at home on November 22, 1942 to Jack and Beth (Elizabeth) Aldridge of Quinlan, TX. He attended the Quinlan schools where he participated in a variety of sports but excelling in basketball where he was awarded All District honors. Summers were spent alongside his dad, Jack, and older brother, Bobby, building houses, or working with his uncle, Robert, on his farm outside Quinlan, acquiring a set of practical skills that would serve him well throughout his life.After graduation from Quinlan High School in 1961, Joe joined the United States Navy where he proudly served as a member the commissioning crew of the USS Iwo Jima (LPH-2) deployed in the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962. After finishing his commitment to the Navy, Joe returned to Quinlan and enrolled in college at East Texas State University (now Texas A&M Commerce) where he discovered he had an aptitude for numbers and received a B.A. in Accounting in three years.Joe was one of those unique individuals who began and ended his professional career with the same company. He joined Gifford Hill & Company when he graduated from college in 1969 and held a number of positions beginning in Cost Accounting. Though the original company was sold and changed names several times, Joe remained as part of the financial departments for each successive owner, and upon his retirement in 2005 was serving as the CFO and EVP of Lehigh Hanson Concrete Pipe Division.Retirement allowed the pursuit of some of his favorite pastime of hunting, fishing, travel, and spending more time with the family he loved dearly. He was a member of Scofield Church for over 39 years where he was active in numerous church ministries, volunteer positions and served as former Chairman of the Deacon Board.Joe is survived by his wife of 45 years Tishie Aldridge of Dallas, TX; daughters, Torie Deremo and husband, Mark of Arlington, TX, Angela Schroeder and husband, Jeff of Katy, TX and son, Matt Aldridge and wife, LaDonna of Dallas, TX; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; brother, Mike Aldridge of Terrell, TX and two sisters, Sue Coburn of Quinlan, TX and Gay VanDenburgh of DeSoto, TX; one niece, seven nephews and a host of wonderful friends.Preceding Joe in death were his parents, Jack and Beth Aldridge and two brothers, Durrell and Bobby Aldridge.A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 3, 2019 at Scofield Church, 7730 Abrams Rd., Dallas, TX 75231 with a reception to follow.In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation in Joe’s memory to The American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.Funeral arrangements for Mr. Joe Wayne Aldridge have been faithfully entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery, which is located at 13005 Greenville Ave., at the intersection of Restland Road, Dallas, Texas 75243, and can be reached at (972) 238-7111.
