Joe Nophlet Boyd's Obituary
Joe “Papa Joe” Nophlet Boyd born on December 11, 1928 in Waco, TX, passed away on July 10, 2012 at his Plano home. Joe was outnumbered by three, very adventurous sisters growing up. He served in the Army Air Force during the Japanese Occupancy from 1947-1949. Upon his return home, Joe and Clara Boyd raised their two sons in Dallas, TX. After 30 successful years in an engineering career, Joe retired from Polluck Paper. His passions included sailing, flying, and visiting Texas beaches. Papa Joe never ceased smiling. Nothing brought him more joy than hearing his great-grandchildren tell him they loved him. Papa Joe never missed an opportunity to watch one of his grand and great-grandkids’ games or events. He loved to share his “war stories” with his grandkids over Mexican food (the spicier the better). Papa Joe leaves a legacy of love survived by his sons, Bill and Nicole Boyd and Mark and Angela Boyd, four grandchildren Benjamin and his wife Melissa Boyd, and their children Nicholas, Luke, and Charles, Meredith (Boyd) Carpenter and her husband Clay and children Gracie and Tyler, Christina Boyd-Nichols and her husband Adam, and William Boyd and his mother Tina Boyd. Joe is also survived by his loving sister, Jean Puckett of Whichita Falls, TX. Services will be held at 1:30p.m on Saturday, July 14 at Restland Wildwood Chapel in Dallas, TX.
