Joe Bob Chamberlain's Obituary
Joe Bob Chamberlain, husband, father, grandfather, brother, marine, teacher, mentor, president, builder, councilman, and friend passed away on May 7th, 2023. Born in Gilmer, TX on May 19th, 1951 to Gidget and Paul Erwin Chamberlain.
Joe and Kay formed a strong friendship when they met at Casa Linda Theater as teenagers. His service to the Marine Corp. ended in 1970 with his return from Vietnam. Joe and Kay got married in Rockwall in 1976, shortly before moving to Lubbock, TX with their son Chad. After Receiving his Diploma from Texas Tech, he started an Electronics business. The years spent in Lubbock was dedicated to hard work and family. The persistence that he had payed off when he was able to take his family sailing for 2 years with the sale of his business in 1992.
Returning to Rockwall with his family, Joe soon took up teaching at Rockwall Highschool, to help out and to be near his son Chip. Here he enjoyed his time teaching and mentoring many students. After the graduation of his son, Joe took to building custom homes. His company Caprock was named best builder in Dallas 17 times. The Builders association of Dallas elected him president during this time. He was also involved in politics on the local level as city councilman of Heath TX.
Joe was dedicated to his wife and children as well as his fellow man. He loved to cook for those he cared for and would never turn away some one that was hungry.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, mother and father-in-laws. He is survived by his wife of 47 years Kay, his sons Chad and Chip, his Daughter-in-law Kim, his Grandchildren Court and Addy, His Brothers Tony and Chris.
