Joe Roger Crownrich's Obituary
Was born to L.W. and Maude Crownrich on February 26, 1924 in Dallas, Texas. He died September 25, 2008 after losing a nine year battle with usual interstitial pneumonia. He is survived by his wife Dorothy Jean, his daughter Brenda Jensen of Philadelphia, and two grandsons Hunter and Austin. He was very close through the years to his cousins Joy Eckeberger, Judy Parsons and Lolli Thomas and those now deceased Jack Thomas, Truett Eckeberger, and Bill and Louise Haynie. Roger attended elementary school in Frisco, Crozier Technical High School, North Texas Agricultural College in Arlington and S.M.U. He became interested in the design/build at an early age. His first building was a washateria built right after World War II. (The building still stands). He built many homes, clinics, apartments and trade schools before his companies began producing plans and constructing automobile dealerships locally, state and nation wide. He especially appreciated his repeat customers through the years. He greatly enjoyed building…”And if I had a second life I would do the same thing again.” His second choice of things to do was flying. He owned and flew over a dozen planes in his life time. He sold his last plane, a sports plane, a few months before he died. He especially enjoyed sharing all of his “toys” with friends and relatives. He had a zest for life that never wavered even though he was very ill, he was eagerly looking forward to the State Fair. Roger and his family belonged to Lovers Lane Methodist and later moving Uptown, joined the First United Methodist Church. Dr. Fielder and the Doubleaires Sunday School Class has been the “Wind Beneath Our Wings” during the years of illness.
