Joe L. Hataway's Obituary
Joseph (Joe) Luther Hataway, 92, was born on May 26, 1923 in Moores Chapel, Texas. His journey with the Lord began September 26, 2015. He leaves his wife of 67 years, Julia (Judy) Evelyn Hataway; his daughter, Susan Ketcham and husband, James; his sons, David Hataway and wife, Janice, and Paul Hataway and wife, Renee; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and close friends. His younger years were spent in Greenville, Texas where he graduated from Greenville High School. Shortly after high school graduation in 1942, Joe joined the Navy where he was stationed in Chicago. After leaving the Navy he attended Southern Tech in Dallas. He married the love of his life, Julia (Judy) Evelyn Cook in Fort Worth on July 3, 1948. Joe and Judy settled down on Leaside Drive in Dallas to raise their three children. Joe took pride in his work as a Field Service Rep with Rheem, retiring after 30 years of service. Joe and Judy spent many retirement years traveling across the United States and the side roads of Texas. Joe loved fishing, was a skilled woodworker and could fix anything with a piece of tape, string and wire. Joe’s honesty, integrity and humor was passed down to his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved spending time with his family. He was always happy to share stories with them and their accomplishments to others. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 from 6:00-8:00PM at Restland Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at 10:00 AM in The Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
