Tip began his business career as a mortgage banker in the Rio Grande Valley before moving to Dallas and eventually starting a commercial real estate company. For many years, he was a partner with his father-in-law, James Straiton. During this time, he and Nancy were active members of Casa View Christian Church, where they made many lifelong friends. Tip had many professional accomplishments, including earning the MAl real estate appraisal designation. He was a longtime member and past president of the East Dallas Rotary Club. One of his favorite Rotary activities was the annual sale of grapefruit from the Rio Grande Valley. He purchased many bags of grapefruit for his friends and took great joy in personally delivering them. Tip was a longtime member and elder at Scofield Memorial Church in Dallas. He loved the Lord dearly and served Him in many capacities. Tip is survived by his wife, Nancy; sons, James Tipton and his wife Lana and Edwin Wallis of Dallas; and grandchildren John, Alex, Liz, Will, Elyse and Connor, all of Dallas.
