Mr. Joe Stallings Jackson's Obituary
JACKSON, JOE S. born January 27, 1916, in Sherman, Texas, and passed away August 17, 2007, he is reunited with his parents, Monroe and Bernice Jackson, his beloved wife, Gert, and siblings; Inez, Jenny Gladys, Thomas, Monroe, Claude, and twin brother, Jack. Joes is survived by son Wayne, his pride and joy grandson Christopher, sister and brother-in-law Bernice and C.D. McClure, Dear friend Kathy Roten, and many cherished neices and nephews. While attending S.M.U., Joe began ushering at the Varsity Theatre and a lifetime love affair with the theatre business was born. His career began with Interstate Theatres where he rose through the ranks and ended more than fifty years later when he retired as President of Plitt Southern Theatres. Joe expressed his love of the industry through service is Chief Barker of the Variety Club of Dallas and on the Board of Directors of the Will Rogers Hospital in Saranc, New York. He had a zest for life and was an avid golfer and fisherman.Visitation will be held Monday, August 20, 2007 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Restland Funeral Home with 11:00 a.m.graveside service, Tuesday, August 21, 2007 in Restland Memorial Park. A memorial service will be 1:30, Tuesday at Walnut Hill United Methodist Church. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Walnut Hill United Methodist Church Foundation, 10066 Marsh Lane, Dallas, X 75229 or Variety Club Children’s Charity, 3102 Oak Lawn Ave., Suite 700, Dallas, TX 75219. The family wishes to express its heartfelt gratitude to the nursing staff at The Traymore Nursing Home, Paradigm Home Health Services and Community Hospice Services of Texas for the caring manner in which our loved one and we were treated.
