Joe Blas Manzanares' Obituary
Joe Blas Manzanares was born in Dallas Texas on August 26, 1925 to Anselmo Rios Manzanares, and Anita Garcia Manzanares. He was the fourth of 7 siblings: the oldest Consuelo Martinez, Esperanza (Hope) Aguilar, Mary Louise Peterson, Jesse Martinez, Alice Maxwell, and the baby Clementine (Honey) Ramos.Joe learned the importance of hard work at the young age of 7 when he would clean the local grocery store floors for a bag of potatoes to bring food home to his mother and many siblings. This would set the tone for the rest of life when he found his purpose and delighted in being a good provider to his loved ones. God gave him this gift and embraced it with thankfulness that he could see his family well taken care of.If you were a part of his life whether it be family, friends or stranger he would make a genuine investment in you. His exuberance was so contagious you would see him singing on his way to work and on his way back home with songs like Las Mananitas and La Cucaracha and spreading his joy to others. Even the most depressed looking cashier would leap for joy when they saw him coming because he spread the laughter and jokes wherever he frequented. All our hearts will be forever amiss of his silly sense of humor, wit, and zest for life.Joe served the U.S. Army from 1950-1952 and then dedicated his time as a business owner and entrepreneur always looking for the next big opportunity. He found so much pleasure in making something out of nothing and never quit when times got tough. He retired from the dress manufacturing business after 60 dedicated years with his wife but kept up with other projects and loving the whole process all the way until the end of his days.He leaves behind his beautiful wife Porfiria Manzanares of 44 years. His son Anselmo Blas Manzanares and wife Marisol Manzanares. Daughter Pilar Castaneda and husband Julio Castaneda.Grandchildren Alexys Castillo, Joseph Castaneda, and Matthew Castaneda. He also leaves behind his daughter Brenda La Barba and his sisters Clementine (Honey) Ramos, and Alice Maxwell.Visitation will be held on April 15, 2019, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Restland Funeral Home’s Memorial Chapel with a Rosary at 6:30 pm. A funeral service will be held on April 16th at 2:30 pm in Restland’s Memorial Chapel.
