Joe Edward McConnell Jr's Obituary
MCCONNELL JR., JOE EDWARD beloved husband, father and friend passed away April 19th after a prolonged struggle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Ed was born July 15th, 1950 in Atlanta, Texas to Joe and Dorothy (Lovelace) McConnell. He married Robin French on March 29, 1980 in Shreveport, Louisiana. Ed received B.S. and Master’s degrees in Education from East Texas State University. He taught and coached eight years in Richardson and Carrollton ISD. In 1991, he moved to Garland ISD where he taught for ten years before serving as Assistant Principal at Brandenburg Classical Magnet for his last seven years. He is survived by his wife, Robin McConnell; sons, Matthew and Chad McConnell and future daughter-in-law, Jackie Willis; brothers, Tom and wife, Debbie, Pat and wife, Linda and Michael and wife, Kay; numerous nephews and nieces; and a host of other loving family members and friends as well as his loyal canine companion, Foxie. Family and friends are invited to the viewing on Friday, April 25th between 6 and 8 PM to pay respects and sign the register. A memorial service will be held at 12:30 PM, Saturday, April 26th at Restland Funeral Home, Wildwood Chapel. The family would like to thank Avalon Residential Care home for the loving care provided to Ed especially by Lolanda, Linda, Ashley J., Bianca, Merody, Ruban, and Ashley.
