Age 62, passed away on November 13, 2011, in Dallas TX. He was born on November 7, 1949 in Dallas TX. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Hilda Montero Palma; mother, Natividad Palma; brothers, Jesse (Abby) Palma and Trino (Nina) Palma; sisters, Cookie Dorsey and Vicki (Steven) Valderas; father-in-law, Lupe C. Montero; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Lupe Montero Jr., Rachel (Frank) Sanchez and Stephanie (Kurt) Booth; nieces and nephews, Monica Palma (Mark) Marcellin, Felicia Palma Toles, Stevie (Jenny) Valderas, Mark, Sarah and Michael Valderas, Alicia and Nicholas Dorsey, Jayme Montero (Brad) Pesnell, Trey Montero, Roman Sanchez, Alisha Sanchez (Jesse) Avelino, Hannah Booth (JJ) Foust, Nicole Booth, Capt. Joshua (Kari) Montero, USMC, Jennifer Montero (James) Rosier, Jessica Montero; 13 great-nieces & nephews; 1 great-great niece & 1 great-great nephew, and his beloved dog, Jimbo. He was predeceased by his father, Trino V. Palma; mother-in-law, Rachel Diaz Montero, and brother-in-law, Hector Montero. Joe was a 1968 graduate of Crozier Tech High School in Dallas. He was a decorated Vietnam Veteran of the U.S. Army, having been awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He retired from Social Security Administration in October 2010 after 32 years of service. Joe was a loving husband, son, brother and uncle, who will be dearly missed. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 16, 2011, from 6:00-8:00PM at Restland Funeral Home. Service will be held on Thursday, November 17, 2011, at 10:00AM at Restland Funeral Home. Pallbearers: Trey Montero, Roman Sanchez, Mark Valderas, Ruben Florido, Zachary Harvell, Vincent Morin. Honorary Pallbearers: Capt. Joshua Montero, USMC, Stevie Valderas, Nicholas Dorsey. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the National Kidney Foundation Serving Texas Division Office, 5429 Lyndon B. Johnson Fwy, Ste. 2590, Dallas TX 75240-2617, and asks that you please consider being an organ donor.
