Mr. Joe Palmer's Obituary
Joe Palmer February 11, 1955 - January 07, 2023
Joe Palmer, 67, of Dallas, TX passed away on January 7, 2023. Joe was born of February 11,
1955 to Betty and Roy Palmer in Augusta, GA to where his family was stationed while his father
was in the military. At 3 months of age they all moved back home to Tuscaloosa, AL where Joe
was raised. He graduated from Tuscaloosa High and attended university at his beloved
University of Alabama. On March 27, 1978 Joe moved to Dallas, TX. where he called home and
built a family with his wife Denise and daughter Carolina. Soon after Joe met Denise, who is
from Brazil and only spoke Portuguese at the time, and realized love at first sight does exist, he
wanted to make sure she taught him how to speak Portuguese as quickly as possible. He didn’t
want anything getting in the way. He became a fluent Portuguese speaker within 90 days; which
Denise’s family was always grateful for. Joe's top priority was his family, followed by composing and playing music. Joe was more than an avid reader. He could consume books in just a day or two and was always able to remember details about those books that no one else really could. His hunger for knowledge was unlimited. He read out loud to his wife often which she really enjoyed. His childhood dream of traveling to space stuck with him for the entirety of his life. Although Joe was considered brilliant by many we cannot ignore his unwavering love for University of Alabama football. Joe’s reputation at work seemed to always
precede him. He spent 43 years as a residential maintenance supervisor and Joe was always
known as the “brilliant problem solver” “when we see Joe arriving we know the problem will be
solved”. Joe also dedicated his time to his personal business. He was a Certified Home
Inspector and made sure to always provide the best and most complete care to his clients.
Some of his favorite memories were the family vacations he took with wife and daughter
throughout their lives. Needless to say, one of his top trips was a gift from his daughter to an
Alabama football game in 2021. His passion for their 2 chihuahuas, Lily and Nina was palpable
as well as the other rescues he and Denise took in. It is with a broken heart that his family had
to say their final goodbye. He will always be loved by his wife. Joe is survived by his wife Denise
Palmer, daughter Carolina Stovall and her husband Alex Stovall, His brother Phillip Palmer and
his wife Deborah Palmer of Northport, AL. In lieu of flowers Joe would have requested
donations to St. Jude Hospital or any animal rescue of your choice. Per Joe’s request he will be
cremated and will not be having a funeral service.
