Joe Leeroy Pierce's Obituary
PIERCE, JOE Leeroy Born January 10, 1934, went to be with our Lord and Savior on December 3, 2012 at age 78. Born in Dallas, Texas to Joe and Tommie Pierce, Joe grew up in Dallas with four siblings and later married the love of his life, Billie Jean Duke from Pittsburg, Texas. They were married 55 years raising their family in Irving, TX. Early in his career, Joe worked at Southern Ice Company and then later at American Airlines for 30 years until retirement. Once retired, Joe and Billie joined a camping club and enjoyed spending time with friends. Joe loved the Lord, his family, friends and sharing stories from the past. As a long time member of Oak View Baptist Church, he enjoyed the opportunity to share music and sing with others in church as well as in the community. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force (Korean Conflict). He was also a Master Mason ofIrving Lodge #1218, a Scottish Rite Mason (32nd Degree) and a member of the Hella Shrine. Joe is preceded in death by both parents and wife, Billie Jean. He is survived by sons, Randy Pierce and Steve Pierce; brother, James Pierce of Trinidad, Texas; sister, Oleta Kennington of Pittsburg, Texas; sister, Nelda Moore of Conroe, Texas; sister, Sandra Pierce of East Texas; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces; nephews; in-laws and a host of life-long friends. Joe’s smile, sense of humor, and kind heart will be dearly missed by all. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM Friday, December 7, 2012 at Restland Memorial Chapel. A service to celebrate his life will be held on at 10:00 AM, Saturday, December 8, at Restland Wildwood Chapel.
