Joe Frank Sagnibene's Obituary
Joe Frank Sagnibene, 96, of Celina, TX peacefully passed away Tuesday evening at his home. Born in Bayou Current, La. Oct. 23, 1920, moving to Dallas at age 2, living in Dallas for almost 50 years, & in Celina for more than 30 years. Joe was a graduate and cheerleader of Crozier Tech High School 1939. He attended Arlington Technical College. (UTA) and was greatly disappointed when turned down for military duty in WWII after Dr. mistook double pneumonia scars for TB pulling him from training in the US Army Air Corp. Military Dr’s refused his own Dr’s report so his dream of serving his country, much less flying for his country, was dashed. He was always proud of his Sicilian heritage, and his parent’s success here as well as their pride in being an American. He & his beloved wife, Emma Lou, established King Stores, Inc, a chain of Package & Convenience Stores in Dallas in the mid-1960’s. Joe sold his corporation in 1982 & they established Crown S Ranch in Celina 1983. The joy of his life was family. Having his daughters Fran & Cathy’s families also establishing their homes on the ranch was a great joy to both their Dad & Mother. He loved bass fishing at their lake house, was an expert woodworker, & became a gentleman farmer working on their ranch raising Black Angus cattle. For decades, he enjoyed breakfast every morning at Lucy’s Cafe on the Square. Joe was on the Board of Directors at Grand Bank, Dallas; First State Bank, Celina; & served as President of the Celina Chamber of Commerce. He was a 32nd degree Mason. Pre-deceased by the love of his life, his wife of 52 years Emma Lou; his father & mother, Frank & Margherite LoCoco Sagnibene; sister, Frances Sagnibene Donathan, infant brother, Joseph; & son Harold Anderson.
