Joel Reyes' Obituary
With deeply heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Joel Reyes, a beloved husband, father, papa, brother, pastor, and friend. Joel was born in Dallas, Texas, on August 28, 1965, and departed this world on April 24, 2025, in Mesquite, Texas. His radiant spirit and joyful presence brought warmth and laughter to all who knew him.
Joel devoted his life to faith, family, and fellowship. A passionate pastor, he served his church community with unwavering dedication and a deep love for Jesus. Whether leading worship or sharing the word, Joel’s heart was always focused on spreading hope and light - often with a laugh and a song sung just slightly off-key, affectionately known as the “key of W—for wrong.”
He married the love of his life, Robin Nabors, on June 3, 1988. Together, they built a life centered on love, laughter, and togetherness. Joel found his greatest joy in his family. He was a proud and loving father to his children, Brandon, Cody, and Raeanna, and a devoted papa to his cherished grandchildren. Family gatherings, good food, and heartfelt conversations were among his favorite things in this world.
Joel was preceded in death by his beloved son Cody Allen Reyes, his brother Marcus Javier Reyes, and his mother Magdelina Reyes, along with many grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins who welcomed him with open arms.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and faith, survived by his wife Robin Reyes of Dallas; his son Brandon Nabors and wife Amanda of Forney; his daughter Raeanna Moore and husband Jonathan of Fort Worth; grandsons Tyler, Nathan, Luke, Easton and Joshua, nephew Blake Reyes of Plano; and his sister Amalia and husband Martine of Oak Cliff, along with their children Nora, Maribel, Fabiola, and Sabastian. Joel is also survived by his mother-in-law, Lois Brackin, father-in-law Bill Pryor, and his cousin Thomas Pryor, all of Seagoville, as well as a large and loving extended family and many friends whose lives were touched by his kindness, humor, and faith.
Joel lived a life full of purpose and passion, and though our hearts are broken, we take comfort in knowing he is rejoicing in the presence of his Savior.
