Joetta Parma Burnet's Obituary
Joetta Louise Parma Burnet, 91 of Lakeside, Texas passed peacefully, surrounded by family, on September 23, 2021. She was born February 5, 1930 in Wichita Falls, Texas to her parents, Walter V. and Loretta P. Parma. The Parma family resided in Irving, Texas for most of Joetta's life. She grew up in the depression era and during that time her family welcomed to their home her four cousins-siblings, Rosemary, Bert, Bob, and Walter Sinclair. Those years growing up with her new expanded family were amongst her fondest memories throughout her life. She married Emory R.L. Crump, July 3, 1946 at the family home in Irving. Joetta later married James Jerry Burnet on March 10, 1992. She lived in Irving most all of her life. After retiring, she moved to her current home in Lakeside.
Joetta is remembered for her generous and loving nature, her witty, spit-fire personality, and for the many funny cliches she always shared. She was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, wife, and friend. She adored her mother. They spent countless hours through the years, sewing and antiquing; activities that brought such joy to their lives. Her home was an open hub for family and friends. She was a wonderful gourmet cook and loved to entertain; and was forever a 'memory-maker'. Joetta was an incredibly creative and artistic individual and her passion in life was to beautify her surroundings for herself and those she loved. Joetta was a member of the Ft. Worth Iris Society and those who knew her enjoyed the many beautiful gardens she produced throughout her lifetime. Her yard was a palet vibrant with color and texture. One of her most outstanding legacy's was in her ability to not only create her own but, to also teach others how imagine their own magical spaces. She was selfless in sharing her talent and energy with others in both her home and her businesses. Joetta made each person feel special and loved; always offering sage advice, telling it like it was. She was an independent thinker, supportive, smart, intuitive, and spiritual. And, a truly beautiful and lovely soul, both inside and out.
Joetta was an accomplished and successful businesswoman all of her life. She co-owned Boxet Company Printing with her first husband for over 30 years. Later, she was a business partner and instructor for A-Sales and Gift Box Corporation with her late husband, Jerry. She spent a year attending Northeast Community College just to hone a few business skills. She was truly dedicated to and loved her work. Her success in her businesses can be attributed to her keen ability to see the big, beautiful picture and then her organizational skills to make it a reality. Though her businesses were a source of great pride to Joetta, her family, in her heart and mind, was her greatest achievement. She said that she had a deal with the 'main man upstairs' that she would be a good girl since she got exactly what she asked for. And that was her four beautiful children. The love of family was paramount and her life's mission.
Joetta was preceded in death by her parents, Walter V. and Loretta P. Parma; her two husbands, James Jerry Burnet and Emory R.L. Crump; her son, Gary M. Crump; daughter-in-law, Dee Crump; her adored cousins-siblings, Rosemary (Stearns), Bert, Bob, and Walter Sinclair.
Joetta is survived by her most beloved, cherished, and constant companion, Dolly Baby, her golden furry poodle best friend; her devoted son, Douglas M. Crump of Lakeside; daughter, Janette Miller (Stephen Miller) of Manitowoc, WI; daughter Cynthia Vaughn (Roy Vaughn) of Paradise, TX; her grandchildren, Jeremy Crump (Gina Crump) of Flower Mound, TX; Joshua Crump (Nakita Crump) of San Antonio, TX; and Cameron Crump of Nevada, TX (son of Gary and Dee); numerous very beloved and cherished great-grandchildren, neices, and nephews. And, finally, her many newly found friends and family at the Silver Creek Assisted Living of Azle, TX and the Freedom Hospice doctors and nurses.
