Joginder Singh Deo's Obituary
Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh.
Our beloved Sardar Joginder Singh Deo, age 63, passed away on Sunday, November 14,
2021, in Jalandhar, Punjab, India. He was born to Sardar Surjit Singh Deo and Sardarni
Swaran Kaur Deo on March 3, 1958, in Dasuya, Punjab, India.
Coming from a long line of farmers, Joginder valued hard work and accepted many jobs
over his life to support his family. At age 19, he uprooted his life in Punjab, traveled to
Jordan, then Egypt, and eventually planted himself in the U.S., working tirelessly along the
way. He was a jack of all trades: cook, taxi driver, electrician, and entrepreneur. Over the
years, he ran several small businesses including a video rental store, supermarket, and
restaurant.
In 1989, Joginder met and married the love of his life, Narinder Kaur Deo, in Punjab, India.
For years, they struggled and sacrificed together in a foreign country to successfully build
a home and sangat in Dallas, Texas. Only able to complete high school in Punjab, Joginder
instilled in his two children the value and importance of education. He remains an
excellent example of a forthright, unselfish, and honorable man; a pillar to his community
and a strong foundation for his family.
Joginder is preceded in death by his father Surjit Deo and mother Swaran Deo. He is
survived by his wife Narinder Deo, daughter Javneet Malik, and son Parminder Deo. He
leaves his loved ones with unforgettable memories and stories. He will be sincerely missed
by his loving family, devoted friends, and all the wonderful individuals who knew and
appreciated him.
A funeral service for Sardar Joginder Singh Deo will be held Saturday, December 4, 2021
from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM in the Memorial Chapel at Restland Funeral Home and
Cemetery (13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX, 75243). The funeral service will be
followed by Sahej paath bhog, kirtan, and langar at the Gurdwara Singh Sabha of North
Texas (1201 Abrams Road, Richardson, TX, 75081) from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM.
