John Wallace Ahlfors' Obituary
Ahlfors, John Wallace, 67, much beloved father of five and papa of four passed away on Friday, July 2, 2010. He was born on December 23, 1942 in Toledo, Ohio to Arthur and Lucille Ahlfors. He graduated from Rogers High School, earned a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Toledo, and went on to become a C.P.A. John proudly served his country in the Vietnam War. He was musically inclined and performed with the BG Ramblers rock ‘n’ roll band during the 1960’s. He enjoyed a 30-year finance career in the building products industry. John considered himself young at heart and greeted each day with a sense of humor. Always the entertainer and known as “Elvis” to some, karaoke was his favorite past time. His family was his greatest treasure and he created a legacy of love, laughter, generosity and gratitude. Above all, he lived life knowing that Jesus is The Light and The Way. John was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Gerald Ahlfors. He is survived by the mother of his children Dolores Ahlfors, son Nicholas Stevens, daughter Christa Stevens and husband Sean Mahaney and granddaughters Elinor and Cora, daughter Melissa Anderly and husband Adam and grandchildren Nolan and Leah, daughter Tiffany Ruth Ahlfors, daughter Jacqueline Smith and husband Chad, and brother Edward Ahlfors and wife Sharon. Visitation is on Tuesday, July 6, 2010 from 6-8:30pm at Restland Funeral Home, 9220 Restland Rd. Dallas, TX 75243. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at 10:30am at St. Rita Catholic Church, 12521 Inwood Rd, Dallas, TX 75244. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in John’s memory to St. Rita School for the Deaf, 1720 Glendale Milford Rd., Cincinnati, OH 45215.
