John Albert "Bert" Norman's Obituary
Heaven welcomed another new angel on December 12, 2023.
John (Bert) A Norman was born in San Benito, TX. To Albert W (Bill) and Louise Norman.
Bert attended the Texas School for the Deaf in Austin, TX where he met his beloved wife, Evelyn. Bert and Evelyn were married in Austin, on January 21, 1956, moved to Dallas TX where they lived for almost 50 years. They raised 3 daughters, Jane (Gerry) Crouch, Peggy (Steve) Kimball and Joy (Jayson) Henry.
Bert worked at American Optical in downtown Dallas for approximately 20 years, switch careers and later retired from the United States Postal Service after 24 years of Civil Service.
Bert was a Deacon at Highland Oaks Church of Christ in Dallas until they moved to Malakoff, TX, transferred their membership to Eastern Hills Church of Christ in Athens, TX until they relocated to Pearland, TX and placed their membership at the Southeast Church of Christ.
Bert was always active, loved to paint with oil, play and watch sports and loved the outdoors.
Bert was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn of 67 years and his parents. He is survived by his 3 daughters/husbands, 5 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren (with another great-grandchild on the way), brother Richard Norman, sister Pat Combs, along with many nieces and nephews.
