John Earl Archer's Obituary
John Earl Archer, age 94, of Holly Lake, TX, passed away on August 2, 2024, in Tyler, TX. Born on June 27, 1930, in Prairie Hill, TX, to John Theodore Archer and Vera Archer, John lived a life marked by dedication, love, and service.
John married the love of his life, Louise Todd, on April 20, 1950, in Dallas, TX. Together, they built a beautiful family and shared many cherished memories. John had a distinguished career as an electrical engineer, contributing his expertise to Hughes Aircraft Company, Collins Radio, and Electrospace Systems. His work was a testament to his intelligence and commitment to innovation.
From 1952 to 1955, John proudly served his country in the United States Army. His service was a reflection of his deep sense of duty and patriotism.
John was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Louise Archer; his son, Mark Archer; and his sister, Katie Pratt of Ft. Worth, TX. He is survived by his daughters, Louanne Archer of Tyler, TX, and Cheryl Travis and her husband Mark Travis of Dallas, TX; his son, Mike Archer and his wife Becky Archer of Holly Lake, TX; daughter-in-law, Terri Archer of Tyler, TX; John was also a proud grandfather to six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his life.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Harding University, located at 915 E. Market Ave, Searcy, Arkansas 72149, in John's memory.
A memorial service will take place at 1 PM on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at Holly Lake Church of Christ, located at 3173 South S Farm to Market Rd 2869, Hawkins, TX 75765.
