Dad graced this world on December 3, 1946. He moved to Idaho with his parents Vernie and Jerry Lee. He was the 1st of two children. John earned his Bachelor of Arts with a double major in History and English. After graduation he began his career as a retail manager. He married Jan Simpson on June 18, 1977. He retired from retail in 2014, after retirement they were involved in church and family. He was a member of St. Seraphim Orthodox Cathedral Christian Church. He loved history, telling cheesy jokes, and his Orthodox Church. Dad was a Mountain and led by example of how to never give up despite how tough life can be. A story dad use to say over and over to me was about my first fish I ever caught. He would say “son do you remember your first fish”, I’d always say NO. Well I do, says dad. I look over and your so excited yelling I caught a fish and I look at the line and see a dang watermoccasin ” He told that story a million times. I remember I used to get annoyed by hearing it again…I now wish I could hear about my first fish one more time. Dad wrote a poem that was his favorite called “Gone fishing” As the wind blows through my hair, As the clouds form above me, As the rains falls from above, As the comes on, None of these things bother me, I am not there. I am not alone. The lake or River flow to the Sea. I have gone fishing. The great boat carries me to the fishing hole, in eternity, I have gone fishing. Dad has a wonderful wife, Janice Lee (mom); 2 children, David and Robin; 7 grandchildren, Mercedes, Tyler, Odin, Jeremiah, Jordan, Connor, and Cheyenne; 1 sister, Sue. He was loved and respected by all who knew him. A Panachida for John will be held at 7:00 PM, Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at Restland Funeral Home.
