John David Austin's Obituary
John David Austin passed away December 7, 2016 at his home in Rockport, Texas. He was a loving husband and father leaving behind his wife Kirsten, his daughter Zoe and four sons; Andrew, Dana, Benton and Thomas. He is survived by his mom Angie, sister Christina and four grandchildren; Charlotte, Benton Jr., Brock and Olivia. He is preceded in death by his father, Raymond. Johnny was born on February 28, 1964 (Leap Year) and grew up in Lewisville, Texas. He proudly served a term in the United States Navy as an Avionics Technician at Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron Five. He earned a Biology degree from the University of North Texas and worked in sales in the Oil and Gas and higher education industries over the course of his career. Johnny viewed life unflinchingly through a bright lens. He had a large family because he needed a family to match the size of his heart. Johnny loved life and saw all of life as a gift. Even when times were rough, you could always count on Johnny for a smile and a laugh. In tough times, he could demonstrate admirable patience; Johnny was “like some captain, whose ship ran aground, and he could wait until the tide came around.” His path was not always paved with precious stones interlocked to create a pleasing boulevard; he faced the twists of dreadful uncertainty and jagged roots unearthed by tempests beyond expectation. However, with time and steps taken one unwavering after the other, he wore smooth even the most treacherous routes, so that others could follow behind with greater ease. He earned the touch of sand he eventually felt beneath his feet, and the sea breeze he deserved to carry his breath, he earned his time to rest.
