John Bain's Obituary
BAIN, JOHN of Richardson, TX passed away March 18, 2012 at his home. Born to Will and Lillie Bain in Denison, TX on November 1, 1921. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Pauline Bain; daughter, Rachel Ann Brown; son, Patrick Rush Bain; five brothers and two sisters. John is survived by sister, Betty Hayworth, daughters Melanie Price (Charles) and Shauna Williamson; grandsons Aaron Brown (Regina), John Paul Brown (Hayley), Mitchell Cook (Amy), Monty Cook (Laura), Stephen Brown (Jennifer); granddaughter Emily Williamson; six great-grandsons, ten great-granddaughters, and many nieces and nephews. John was a very proud veteran of WWII who served in the Pacific theatre as a member of the Army Air Corps. He worked for many years in the home construction business in the Dallas area and was a former president of the Dallas Area Homebuilders Association. Mr. John, as he was known to countless students in Garland ISD, knew John as a tireless volunteer who for years worked with elementary-aged children at Back, Club Hill and Hickman Elementaries. For his outstanding service, Mr. John was selected as volunteer of the year in Dallas County in the Education category and later won the Valley Forge Medal of Freedom for his volunteering. He was dearly loved by numerous friends, church members and family members. For more than 50 years John and Pauline were members of the Austin Street Church of Christ in Garland and later the Buckingham Road Church of Christ. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 from 6:00 – 8:00PM at Restland Funeral Home. Service will be held 9:00AM, Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at Buckingham Road Church of Christ, 3630 Buckingham Rd, Garland, TX 75042. Burial will be in the DFW National Cemetery in Dallas, TX.
