John Edward Blair III's Obituary
John Edward Blair III December 16, 1922-March 31, 2010 Born in Waco, Texas, on December 16, 1922, John was the son of John E. Blair II and Ella Mae Bailey. He grew up in Bryan, Texas with brother, Philip Michael Blair of Bryan. He leaves behind his wife of 65 years, Dorothy Jo, of the family home in Richardson, Texas. They reared three children, Cornelia Blair, of Richardson; Elizabeth Blair, of Houston; and John E. Blair IV of Justin, Texas. John took pride in four grandchildren: Celia Anne Jones of Carrollton, Texas; Dr. Aaron Clay Cessna, Dallas, Texas; and Joshua Ricardo and Jason Adam Blair of Justin. Son-in-law, Ronald Stubbs, and daughter-in-law, Dianita (May) Balleras, from the Philippines, have added great joy to the family. John entered the Army/Army Air Corps in 1942. He served as Sergeant in Adak, Alaska, and on the Island of Shemya, working on B-29 and B-17 bombers until 1945. He remained a student of World War II all his life. His name and that of his father and brother are engraved on a statue at Veteran’s Memorial Park in Bryan, Texas. John earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M University in 1949. He was a member of Tau Beta Pi honorary electrical engineering fraternity. He worked as an electrical engineer until retiring from Texas Instruments in 1991. He spent much time at his farm in Brazos County. Restland Memorial Cemetery in Dallas, Texas, is handling services. The funeral will occur at 10:00 am on 4/3/2010 at Restland, followed by graveside services at his family plot at Bryan City Cemetery in Bryan, Texas at 4:00pm. Willis Blair will officiate. Pallbearers will be son-in-law Ronnie Cessna, Craig McCollor, Tony Schattle, Chris Schattle, Steve Schattle, and neighbors and friends Johnny Patronella and Byron Shankir. Long-time friend Joe Floyd will serve as honorary pallbearer.
