John Roy Bledsoe's Obituary
BLEDSOE, JOHN ROY (JOHNNY) Was born June 23, 1914 in Bonham, TX and went to be with his Lord and Savior July 13,2012. He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years Mavis Helen Bledsoe, and a son, Donald Ray Bledsoe. He was the second oldest of six children and survived by two sisters, Geneva Ferri and Bettye Jo Hodges; daughters Myra Plett and Dee Bledsoe; grand children, John Beasley, Jennifer Skinner, Scott Fairris and Gregg Fairris; ten great-grand children and many nieces and nephews. John grew up in Waco, TX at the Methodist Children’s Home along with his brothers and sisters and has supported the home through out the years. He served in the U. S. Army in Alaska during WWII. Always having a heart for serving, he counseled on a suicide prevention hotline while having membership in Walnut Hill United Methodist Church, Dallas. For many years he taught Sunday School and after retiring from Kroehler Mfg. Co., he volunteered delivering food to various shelters and food pantries. John was a vibrant person almost to the end of his life, as an avid gardener, bridge player and story teller. At the time of his death he was a member of Axe Memorial United Methodist Church, Garland. He said, “I am a Christian and that is the greatest gift I have received.” Services will be officiated by his son-in-law, Rev. La Vern Plett on Tues., July 17th at 10:00 am in the Wildwood Chapel, Restland, Dallas with the interment to follow. Viewing will be Mon., July 16, from 6-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Methodist Children’s Home in Waco, TX.
