John Mac Brown's Obituary
John Mac Brown, age 85, of Sachse, Texas passed away peacefully on January 5, 2023.
John was born on July 29,1937 in Whitewright, TX to Grover Cleveland Brown and Nina Belle Thrasher. He married the love of his life, Mrs. Alma J. Brown in Dallas, Texas on January 27, 1962. John served as a Quality Assurance Inspector for the Department of Defense and retired in 1995. Over the years he held various roles such as a reader in Garland ISD, an officer in the PTA, a responder for the Red Cross Emergency Team, and as an elder at Southminster Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed softball and was a coach for many winning teams in Garland Softball Association and even worked as a scorekeeper at Central Park and Audobon Park in Garland. Later in life, one of the things that brought him the most joy was being Santa Claus at Richardson Square Mall and Collin Creek Mall. He considered this role an honor and a service to thousands of families in the area.
John was a dedicated Christian who served his Lord Jesus and his family. He had the heart of a servant and practiced that every day in his words and actions. He was a good man and will truly be missed by all that knew him.
John was preceded in death by his wife, Alma J. Brown, his parents, his brothers: James Roscoe, G.C., Bill Earl, Jerry Ray, his sisters: Ruth, Robbie Mae, and his daughter-in-law Gigi McFarlane.
He is survived by his children: Deborah Dunn (Eric), Michael McFarlane, Dana Gross (Steven), Laurie Reavis (David), Cleve Brown, Kay Haden-Holt; 7 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and a host of other loving family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 15, 2023, at Restland Wildwood Chapel, located at 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas, Texas 75243.Visitation with the family will be at 12:30pm followed by the service at 1:30pm.
