John Paul Bynum's Obituary
John Paul Bynum, age 87, was born on April 5, 1938, in Dallas, Texas, and
passed away on January 30, 2026, in Dallas, Texas.
John was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years Barbara Ann Bynum,
father Chester Paul Bynum, mother Artie Lee Bynum, and brothers Charles Leroy Bynum and Fred Douglas Bynum, and natural mother Lillie Mae Eure. He is survived by his sister Paulette Pittman and husband Scott of Humble Texas, his children, John Paul Bynum Jr and wife Carol, David Mark Bynum, Cynthia Sue Garrett and husband Jeff, Kerry Gene Graves and wife Melinda (deceased), Kyle Lane Graves and wife Debbie, his grand-children Jarrett James Graves, Jessica Lauren Garrett, Courtney Elain Gates, Chelsea Lyn Scott, Ashley Elizabeth Hoban, Trent Alexander Bynum, Austin Thomas Garrett, Connor Nathaniel Bynum, Sean Rene Pace, Hannah Elizabeth Garrett, Alyssa Grace Le, Marshall Joseph Garrett, and by his numerous great-grandchildren who all called him “Pepau” and many other family members who cared for him dearly.
John was a home builder for over 60 years and recipient of the Hugh Prather Trophy, the highest honor bestowed by the Dallas Builders Association. He enjoyed worldwide traveling, competing in Texas Chili cook-offs, was an advanced certified scuba diver who enjoyed exploring wrecks and other underwater archeological sites, enjoyed live music venues, dancing, hunting, was an avid reader. He enjoyed playing poker and his buddies enjoyed his donations and he loved making memories with his beloved wife, humongous family, and lifelong friends.
John lived an eventful life with countless stories to tell. He was a caring
spouse, son, brother, uncle, father, grand-father, great grand-father, and friend.
Internment will occur at Restland Funeral Home, Dallas on Greenville
Avenue Thursday February 12, 2026 with visitation at 11:00am and graveside
service at Noon.
