John B. Carlisle Jr.'s Obituary
born Dec. 15, 1911 in Venus, TX was taken by Angels to be with his Lord and Saviour on October 15, 2007. He lived his life on Earth with loving grace and was everything a husband, father and grandfather should be: kind and considerate of those around him. John is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mozelle Carlisle; sons, Charles Carlisle and John B. Carlisle III; daughter Marsha Twiss; stepdaughter Beverly Rigsby; ten grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He is also survived by four of the Carlisle brothers: Walter, Randy, David and Charles. John was affiliated with the Heights Baptist Church in Richardson for more than 40 years where he served his church with dedication anywhere he was needed as a greeter, money counter, bus driver, and with a strong involvement and dedication to the tape ministry. He was deeply devoted to the Heights Baptist Church and felt privileged to serve God in so many ways. John moved to Dallas in 1924 and graduated in 1931 from Oak Cliff High School, which was later renamed Adamson High. When his children were younger, John was very active in the Boy Scouts of America and served for many years as an advisor. He was a long-time resident of Garland and was living in Richardson at the time he was called Home by his Heavenly Father. John worked for the Dallas Morning News for four years beginning in 1927. He spent the war years as a member of the Army Signal Corp working with National Geo Physical. After the war, he stayed with that company until they sold out to Atlantic Richfield where he stayed employed for 30 more years, retiring in 1976. John was preceded in death by his parents J. B. and Maude Carlisle of Venus, TX; brothers Joe Carlisle and Robert Carlisle, who died on the U. S. S. Arizona at Pearl Harbor; sisters Virginia Campbell and Mary Tippins; a grandson, Tony Rigsby; son-in-law Bill R. Rigsby and daughter-in-law, Lisa Carlisle. Visitation will be held at Restland Funeral Home from 4:00 to 6:00 PM on Wednesday, October 17 and the funeral service will be held in the Memorial Chapel at Restland at 10:00 AM, Thursday, October 18.
