John David Chapel's Obituary
John David Chapel, our beloved family member, passed away from this life into Jesus' arms on July 29, 2025. He was born on February 20, 1959, in Dallas, Texas. He attended both Skyline Magnet Arts High School and then graduated at Bryan Adams HS (Class of 1977). He loved the Arts and later graduated from the Dallas Arts Institute. He was a history lover/civil war reenactor, painter, creator and craftsman. When he wasn’t painting, he worked for the Dallas ISD at elementary schools as a facilities professional. As a child of two parents who worked in education, he continued that legacy of serving teachers and students. It gave him purpose and joy. After he took early retirement because of health issues, he still worked nights to stay independent never wanting to burden anyone. His work ethic was admirable. His kind and introverted personality still could not hide his big smile that made others do the same. His last two years were spent making friends at Golden Acres Senior Care nursing home in east Dallas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nancy Ann Chapel and John William Chapel. His grandparents Mary Ellen and Robert Pendleton (Mothers side) and Thomas Roy Chapel and Rose Della Sears (Fathers side): his beloved Aunt Joan Hukel, uncle, Marc Pendleton and others inside this rather large family tree. He is survived by his fraternal twin brother, Paul William Chapel, his beloved stepmom Debbie C. Chapel, many cousins, his nephew, Taylor Chapel, and nieces Makenna Oswald and Meredith Woods. The family will hold a private Celebration of Life at a later date.
