John Bunyan Cooke's Obituary
Reverend John Bunyan Cooke, 1922 – 2012, went to be with his loving Savior peacefully on March 30, 2012 after a long illness. His life was spent telling others about his love for the Lord and being a kind and compassionate shepherd to his congregation at Urban Independent Methodist Church in Dallas Texas. He served as a loyal patriot to our county as a First Lieutenant B-17 pilot in WWII. Reverend Cooke was preceded in death by his loving wife of 69 years, Suzy in October 2011 and his son, John in October 2001. He is survived by daughters; Cray and husband Hank, Carla and husband Charles, Cindy and husband Danny; his grandsons Chris, Jeremy and Jeff; his sister Myra and husband Ken. A private memorial service for both John and Suzy will be scheduled at a later date at Restland Funeral Home for family and church members. In lieu of flowers, any donations should be made to a charity of your choice or to Urban Independent Methodist Church in support of missionary services that Reverend Cooke and his congregation have supported for the past many years. Reverend Cooke will be missed and loved by all of the lives he touched.
