John Jefferson Crim Jr.'s Obituary
Crim Jr. John Jefferson “J.J.” was born on May 25, 1920 to John J. Sr. and Lucile Crim (both deceased) of Dallas, Texas. J.J. graduated from Forest Avenue High School in 1937 and SMU in 1941 with a BS degree in geology. In 1941, he began his career with Lone Star Gas Co. in Abilene, Texas holding positions of Superintendent of Operations in Fort Worth, manager of the Oklahoma, West Texas and Denton, Texas regions until 1971. J.J. then became self-employed in Taylor, Texas until his retirement in 1984. During WWII, J.J. served as Lieutenant in the US Navy, CO of LCT 325 leading amphibious landings in the Soloman Islands, and then served as CO of LST 724 in landings on Iwo Jima / Okinawa campaigns in the Pacific Theater. He was awarded two Bronze Stars for combat service. He is preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Ruth Evelyn (Foote) of Mansfield, Texas, she passed in 1990. They were parents of Mark of Addison, Texas, Steven (deceased in 2012) of Round Rock, Texas, and John of Flagstaff, Arizona. Mark and John survive J.J. along with daughters-in-law, Brenda Crim of Richardson, Texas and Angie Crim of Flagstaff, Arizona; grandchildren, Lauren Crim Havens and husband, Jon Havens; Scott Crim and wife, Lauren Strauss Crim; and great granddaughter, Abbey; grandson, Peyton, and granddaughter, Lily Jae Crim. He also loved his second wife and companion of 15 years, Helen, (deceased in 2008) of Granbury, Texas. J.J. was a devoted husband to our mother, R.E and his second wife, Helen. Not until death did they part. He had two sisters, Lucille Crim of Dallas, and Gladys Morrison of Mesquite (both deceased). J.J. was active in the community where he lived, having served in leadership positions with Chambers of Commerce, United Way, Rotary Club, Masonic Lodge and Boy Scouts of America. He was an avid golfer for over 50 years, and had 1 hole-in-one to his credit. J.J. had a great sense of humor, loved to laugh and also loved hearing as well as telling funny stories. He was a Christian aware of his spiritual gifts of service to the church and his Lord. J.J. received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior 17 years ago, and can confidently rest assured of his place in God’s Kingdom for eternity. Services will be held at 12:30 PM on Saturday, June 8, 2013 in Restland Wildwood Chapel.
