John and I spent a number of hours promoting our Library and trying to stabilize it's financial future. He was a great idea man and a good leader, who cared deeply about the Library.
John was a man of many interests and talents. When he learned I built and flew radio-controlled model airplanes, he asked to go out with me. We went to the field and I let him fly my model. He did well for a few minutes but then got into an awkward position. Before I could take back the transmitter and control, the model crashed, destroying it. We picked up the pieces and came home. John bought me a replacement kit because that's the type person he was.
I will miss him and his wit! May he rest in peace. Gil Betts
