John Stuart Dehn's Obituary
John Stuart Dehn was born to George W. and Lucile Marple Dehn on October 7, 1930 in Texarkana, Texas. He passed away at his home in Dallas on Friday, July 21, 2023 at the age of 92.
John graduated from Centenary College of Louisiana in Shreveport. Later he graduated from LSU with his PHD in Chemical Engineering. John was an Emeritus member of the American Chemical Society.
John served in the US Army from 1957-1962. He worked in a combined Army/Air Force project in Nevada to develop The Iron Dome for Israel, under Wernher von Braun. He collaborated with Aerojet, testing rockets in the Apollo era. John began work at the Environmental Protection Agency in 1976 and retired in 1995. John continued educating himself taking computer and photography classes at Brookhaven, well into his 80’s.
John was a friend to all neighborhood animals, feeding and walking pets while neighbors went on vacations and work travel. John was devoted to his beloved cats, Tiger, Curly, Trudy, and Lucy.
John grew up Presbyterian but most recently attended St. Luke’s Lutheran in Richardson.
John is preceded in death by his parents, George W. and Lucile Marple Dehn; sister, Peggy Bewley; and brothers, Carl W. Dehn and Thomas F. Dehn. He is survived by nieces, Jennifer Bewley and Lisbeth Bewley Tilley; nephew, Richard Bewley; and 5 great nieces and nephews.
