John David Dodson's Obituary
John David Dodson, beloved husband, father, son, brother and uncle, passed away on June 10, 2025, at the age of 67 due to complications from bulbar-onset ALS. His strength, humor, and gentle spirit remained steadfast throughout his illness- a reflection of the love he gave so freely during his life.
John was born on May 3, 1958, in Springfield, Missouri, and spent his childhood in Richardson, Texas. After starting his career with Delta Air Lines, his work took him to Wichita, Kansas, and then to Hawaii. He eventually returned to Richardson, where he built a life full of meaning, connection, and family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Cindy Dodson, and their daughter, Kailey Dodson, who was the light of his world. He also leaves behind his mother, Betty Dodson; his sister, Dee Ann McNeil, and her husband Al; and their children- Jenny Rouse (with her husband Duane and their children Beckett and Carter) and Josh McNeil (with his wife Janelle and their children Sawyer and Kennedy). He is also survived by his sister-in-law Christi Fuller and her children: Ashley Fuller (and her son Seth), Austin Fuller, and Courtney Fuller.
John was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Dodson; his mother- and father- in -law, Anne and Kenneth Gibson; and a number of dearly loved dogs who were undoubtedly waiting to greet him again.
John will be remembered for his great sense of humor, his warm smile and contagious laugh, and his tender heart. He loved technology and video games and always stayed up to date on the latest gadgets. Whether it was a family celebration, a quiet moment on the couch with a dog at his side, or a deep conversation about the latest move, John brought s sense of comfort, humor, and authenticity to every moment.
Even as ALS took his voice, it could never silence the impact he made on those around him. His love, laughter, and loyalty live on in those who knew him.
