John Clayton Garner's Obituary
Clayton Garner went to meet his Lord on January 27, 2010. He was born on December 22, 1936 in Port Arthur, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jewel and Chester Garner. Before beginning his career, Clayton served in the military both active and inactive. He entered the banking field in 1960 after receiving a BBA from Lamar University where he attended on a track scholarship. He retired from Bank One as a senior vice president after 29 years of service. Clayton’s retirement years were spent working in his wood shop, playing golf, travelling with his wife, and doing maintenance jobs at Lake Ridge Bible Church, his place of worship. He will be remembered for his immense dedicated devotion to his God, family, and friends. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn, to whom he has been married for 46 years; two daughters and sons-in-law – Staci and Henry Gideon of Bastrop, TX and Alicia and Dan Cummings of Allen, TX. He has two grandchildren, Andrea and Tristan Gideon as well as a great grandson, Malakai. Clayton is also survived by one brother, Kenneth Garner, of Odessa, TX. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 pm, Friday, January 29th at Lake Ridge Bible Church located at 1020 Northwest Drive in Mesquite, TX. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or Lake Ridge Bible Church.
