John Earl Gaskill's Obituary
Johnny Earl Gaskill, age 76, of Richardson, Texas passed away on October 14, 2009 following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Johnny was born October 2, 1933 in Mt. View OK to the late John and Mamie Gaskill. He graduated from Mt. View High School, served in the United States Army and then attended Cameron College in Oklahoma. In 1958 Johnny married Melba Rue Small and they had two daughters, Joni and Gina. Over the years, Johnny’s entrepreneurial spirit led him to success in a variety of business ventures until his retirement from Cameron Building Maintenance in 2007. In his spare time, Johnny loved to go to Lake Texoma and spend time on his boat and waterskiing. He and his wife Melba and their daughters spent countless hours at their lake house at Paw Paw Creek until Melba’s death in 1990. They were also avid dancers from square dancing with the Dixie Chainers club to ballroom dancing, Johnny and Melba’s impressive footwork could clear the dance floor! Johnny’s dynamic personality could light up a room and his sense of humor will be fondly remembered by his family and many friends. Johnny is survived by two daughters, Joni and her husband Chris Staldt of Findlay, Ohio and Gina and her husband Dan Ashton of Plano, Texas. Six Grandchildren Brittany Waterson, Jacob Staldt, Bryce Waterson, Abby Ashton, Jon Staldt and Connor Staldt. Brother, James Gaskill and his wife, Phyllis and Sister, Bobbie Teal and her husband, Dennis. Step-daughters, Anais and Janette. Johnny is preceded in death by his loving wife, Melba. Visitation at Restland Funeral Home Friday evening from 6pm-8pm. Funeral services will be held at Restland’s Wildwood Chapel on Saturday 10am. Reception following at the home of Russell and Linda Small. Maps provided at service.
