John Hawaii's Obituary
John Hawaii, 81, passed away on Monday, May 13, 2019, in Richardson, Texas. He was born on Saturday, January 1, 1938. In 1962, he married Som in Laos. He was an accountant for Laos military for 15 years. As a hobby he was a designer of jewelry and was the spokesperson for Laos Community in DFW area and a member of US National Defense Corp. He served in the Laos Royal special-forces from 1965-1975 as a specialist. John was known in the Laos community as the liason between the Laos community and the complete DFW area. He became the spokesperson for many Laos families when a loved one passed away. He has spoken at over 100 services at Restland as the Laos advocate for the community. John held several positions when he worked here in the US, from hospitality to maintenance work. As a hobby he was a designer of women and men jewelry. He has furnished multiple pieces for the Laos community. John will be missed by Laos community and his Legacy will live on forever. John was a lover of life and his home was always open for family and friends to come and celebrate life. His love for dancing and entertaining is how we will always remember him. John is survived by his daughter, Tia and (Kevin) of Richardson, TX, sons; Alan Detsouriphonh and (Sopheak Kong) of Garland, TX, Somchit Detsouriphonh of Ft. Worth, TX, Sid Detsouriphonh and (Amy) of Ft. Worth, TX, Andrew Detsouriphonh and (Angela) of Dallas, TX, and Sack Jackey Detsouriphonh of Dallas, TX., and 11 grandchildren.Visitation for John will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2019 from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 19, 2019 at 2:30 pm Restland Memorial Chapel located at 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75243.
