John David Holly's Obituary
Holly, John David, age 89, of Garland, Texas passed away peacefully on 1/6/2011 at home. He was born on 5/11/1921 in Charleston, Missouri to his parents, Ezra and Mae. John was the eldest of 2. He married Gloria in Madison, WI on May 8, 1943. They had 3 children. He attended Kilgore Junior College and graduated in 1940. He served in the Army for 4 years serving in the European African Theater in World War II. He was a longtime resident of Garland, Texas for 55 years and employed by Machinist Tools and Supplies as a President/CEO until 1995. John was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church of Garland. He enjoyed oil painting, gardening, home remodeling, traveling, dancing, boating and socializing with friends. He had a woodwork shop where he designed and created beautiful works of art. John will be remembered by his children, Mark Holly of Arlington, TX; Debbie Holly-Casper of Westchester, OH and Cyndi Holly-Jansky of Garland, TX. He is also survived by 3 grandsons, Mark S. Holly, Jr.; Ryan S. Holly and Jonathan “Drew” Jansky. Predeceased in death by his wife, Gloria Doll-Holly of 60 years. Relatives and friends are invited to a Rosary for John at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at Restland Memorial Chapel. Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church , 950 Trails Parkway, Garland, TX 75043. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Rowlett, TX.
