As Commandant of the Capt. John Yancey Detachment, Marine Corps League, in Dallas, I'd like to offer our sincere condolenses for your loss. As Marines, we are a brotherhood, and, even though we didn't know Mr. Huffhines personally, he was, and will always be, considered our brother. A brother Marine. Thank you for you service, Sir. RIP. My condolences to Mary, Clark and Eluzabeth. I know we are all "cousins". You all are from the lineage of Christopher Columbus and I am from Philimon Wright. I regret not having known any of you personally. My dad's family moved away from Richardson when he was young so I never grew up knowing many of my relatives. I wax asked many times if I was related to the butane Huffhines. We had Huffhines Steel Company. I am the Treasurer of the Mt. Calvary Cemetery Assicistion. Next time you are up Dalkas way I wish you would give me a call and maybe we could meet. Until then, rest in the comfort in knowing because He lives, John Franklin lives. I took John and Mary back to Iwo Jima in 2012. It was a long trip but well worth every minute. I think John was able to be at peace with his service on Iwo. It was Mary's and my first trip to this famous island. I will never forget John. He is just a great person with a great loving spirit. I worked for John and Mary just a short time many years ago, but that short employment left a lasting impression on me. I think of you Mary and John often. So sorry to hear of his passing.
