John Kelly's Obituary
John “Jack” Francis Kelly Jr., passed away peacefully at home, May 15, 2015, surrounded by his loving family after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Jack was born in Washington, D.C., to the late John and Marie Kelly. Jack began to learn his trade in the telecommunications field earning the rank of Sergeant in the United States Air Force. After serving his country, Jack graduated from Newark College of Engineering and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. He furthered his education attending George Washington University where he received his Master of Science degree in Special Studies. Jack spent his career in the telecommunications industry for over 40 years when he retired in 2009 from Verizon. He received numerous awards for his outstanding contributions throughout the span of his career. Jack was an avid science fiction enthusiast and over the years amassed a library of books dating back to the 1960s. Preceded in death by his infant son Brian Gerard, and infant brother Paul Michael, Jack is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Carol Kelly, sons Paul and his wife Su of Frisco, TX., son Brent and wife Janice of Austin, TX., daughter Kimberly of Dallas, TX., and his greatest joy the past four years, granddaughter Beaux Harper and soon to come, his grandsons Jack Teodor and Myles Robert. In addition, Jack is survived by his sister Eileen, brothers David and William as well as many in-laws, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. The service for John Kelly will be held on Monday, May 18, 2015 at 10:00 AM in The Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home followed by a burial at DFW National Cemetery. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
