John Joseph Kelly's Obituary
John Joseph Kelly was born on July 26, 1934 in Brooklyn, New York and passed away on August 19, 2016 in Mesquite, Texas. He was preceded in death by his father, John Kelly and his mother Bridget McGuiness Kelly, his brother Francis Kelly, and long-time companion Aline Walters. He is survived by his siblings Ellen Kattner, Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania, Margaret Byrnes of Centereach, New York, Michael Kelly of Brooklyn, New York, and Kathleen Calhoun of Talent, Oregon. He is survived by his children Theresa Kelly and her husband Bryan Batson, Carolyn Kelly and her husband Donald Salik, Dawn Kelly, Mary Kelly and Kevin Kelly and his wife Diana Kelly. He was the proud grandfather of Eric Ford, Austin Kelly, Holly Shadel, Cori Kelly, Casey Kelly, Daniel Shadel and Nicholas Shadel. As well as, numerous nieces and nephews and other loving family members. John Kelly spent his career as an Elevator Mechanic working for Otis Elevator at the time of his retirement in 1994. He was a member of National Elevator Union, Local 21. John was a member of the Elks Lodge 71 and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed playing bingo with family and friends at the Elks Lodge. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at 6:00 PM for visitation, following at 7:00 PM with a rosary at Restland Funeral Home, Memorial Chapel. A funeral mass will be held at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Dallas, Texas at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 25, 2016. Burial will be immediately after the funeral mass at the DFW National Cemetery.
