John Franklin Kennedy Jr.'s Obituary
On November 7, 2014, John Franklin Kennedy, Jr. passed away peacefully at his home at the age of 57. He was born on December 1, 1956 in Midland, Texas but his true home was in Fort Worth where he spent the last 20+ years. John moved to Dallas in 1981 to help open the Stark Club, and in 1987 he moved to Fort Worth to open Michaels Restaurant on 7th Street. John attended Le Cordon Rouge in San Francisco, and was a guest chef in Honk Kong. He was a great cook and two-time turkey cook-off winner of which his friends were very proud. John’s passion for food, family and friends was only surpassed by his love of life. He always had a smile on his face, an encouraging word for a friend, and their favorite meal cooking on the grill. Many loved John, and there will forever be a void in our lives without him. John was preceded in death by his father, John F. Kennedy, Sr. of Dallas, his dearly missed mother, Penny Branum and his stepfather, Buddy Branum of Midland. John is survived by his loving sister and brother, Kay Kennedy and Stephen Kennedy both of Dallas, Texas, his step family, Mark and Pam Branum, Cristi Branum and Kathryn Sullivan, and Kirk and Tia Branum all of Midland, his aunts Mary Kennedy of Midland, and Mary Frances DeLoache of Dallas. The visitation for John will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, November 14, 2014 at Restland Funeral Home. The funeral service for John will be at 2:00 PM on November 15, 2014 at Christ the King Catholic Church located at 8017 Preston Road, Dallas, TX 75225. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75238.
