John David Kirby's Obituary
John David Kirby (also known as J.D. or J) of Mesquite, Texas, 80 years old, passed away September 21, 2008 after a courageous battle with emphysema and other health issues. John was born January 1, 1928, in Whitesboro to Wayman and Marie Kirby. He graduated from Sherman High School and attended Austin College. After serving in the Army, John moved to Dallas and had a 45 year career with Greyhound Bus Lines. He was a charter member of Joy Lutheran Church in Rockwall where he loved to be a greeter and usher. John enjoyed playing golf, traveling, and visiting with friends. Surviving are his wife of 57 years Audie Rodgers Kirby; daughter Judy (Bill) Weinberger of Kirkland, Washington; granddaughter Katie and grandson Eric; sister Dorothy Rudd of Bells; sister-in-law Martha Smith of Garland; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
