John Robert Landwermeyer's Obituary
LANDWERMEYER, JOHN ROBERT Passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, September 1, 2011. He was born on April 17, 1926 in Dallas, TX. Bob was a man of strength, loyalty, intelligence, humor, dedication, work ethic and integrity and will be dearly missed by family and friends. He retired at age 83 from his own business. He served his country in WWII in the Third Photo RCH Squadron of the Army/Air Force. Bob was a dedicated member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. He also attended Highland Baptist with his wife Evelyn regularly. He will be remembered for all his hard work and love for his church and also for his dedication to the Lord and his faith. He was a devoted husband, loving father and doting “papa”. An avid sportsman, he loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting and snow skiing. He was a loyal Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Mavericks and Rangers fan. He had an ear for music and loved to play the piano and sing with his family. He sang in his church choir for years. His passion for traveling took him on many trips with his children and grandchildren. These trips made for the most cherished memories and stories the he loved to share again and again with friends. Bob had a heart for others and was always a friend to those in need. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Albert Landwermeyer and Cleora Eva Landwermeyer and one brother and four sisters. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Evelyn Lummus Landwermeyer of Dallas; brother, Paul Landwermeyer of Dallas and children, Michael Landwermeyer of Dallas, Gregory Landwermeyer and wife, Paula of Canton, Debbie Strain and husband, Chuck of Rowlett, Brenda Boylan and husband, Chris of Tyler, step-son, Darrell Lummus and wife, Carol of Cleburne and grandchildren, Todd Landwermeyer and wife, Rhonda, Whitney Landwermeyer, Laurie Markhum, Nick Landwermeyer and wife, Heather, Emilee Nichols and husband, Chris, Jonathan Strain, Kathryn Boylan, Caroline Boylan; step-grandchildren, Maria Lummus and April Jupiter; great grandchildren, Courtney Smith, Jacob Markhum, Katie Landwermeyer, Hannah Nichols, Abigail Nichols and Harper Landwermeyer. The family would like to thank Hospice of Dallas for their loving care. Visitation will be from 6 – 8PM on Friday, September 9, 2011 with a Rosary to be said at 7PM at Restland Memorial Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 720 Floyd Rd at 10AM, Saturday, September 10, 2011.
