Mr. John Clark Long III's Obituary
a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, died peacefully July 18, 2007 after a long, happy and robust life. Born in Hollis, OK in 1922, he completed high school in Lubbock, TX and enlisted in the Army Air Corps. He successfully piloted 18 B-17 combat missions in the European Theatre during World War II. He graduated from Texas Tech with an Engineering degree and was on the baseball team. He worked in the textile industry across the Southeast and Canada before settling in Richardson in 1958. In addition to his family, John’s passions were flying, traveling, fishing, rock collecting, and attending Believers Chapel, Dallas, for over 30 years. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Ann; daughter Linda Long Mims, grandchildren John (J.), Elizabeth and Cathy Mims of Dallas; son John C. Long IV, wife Susan, grandchildren Jennifer, Rebekah, and John Clark Long V of Dallas; son Paul D. Long, wife Cindy, grandchildren Christopher and Cory Long of Richardson; daughter Nancy C. Long of Ft. Worth; cousin Tommie Dearth and family, along with numerous friends. John will be remembered by many for his kindness, sense of humor and generosity as well as his devotion to his family and to Christ the Lord.
