John Arthur Lykken's Obituary
John Arthur Lykken passed away at home in Richardson, TX on 01/18/2026 after a brief illness. He was born in Evansville, IN on 12/27/1953. He was the son of Gerald L. Lykken and Rovilla Webb Lykken.
His childhood was in Princeton, IN. His family moved to Greencastle, IN where he attended high school. He attended Indiana State University. He and his fiancée, Karla DeLong Lykken moved to NE Texas in 1979 and were married on 07/07/1979. John worked in the Accounting Department at Texas Instruments where he made many life-long friends. He retired from Texas Instruments after 39 years.
John loved his family, friends, his pets, music and sports, but especially the Texas Rangers. In addition, he enjoyed being outdoors, and working in the yard. He was an avid runner and ran numerous events including marathons. He will be remembered by all who knew him for his gentle disposition, kindness and sense of humor.
John was preceded in death by his parents Gerald and Rovilla Lykken and his brother Gregory Lykken. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Karla Lykken of Richardson, TX, sister Susan Pleiss (Ronald) of Carmel, IN, sister Kristine Dawson (Larry) of Princeton, IN, sister Mary Lykken of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, brother Kim Lykken (Patty) of Carmel, IN and numerous nieces and nephews.
