John ONeal Mack's Obituary
John ONeal Mack passed away unexpectedly on April 9, 2017 at the age of 49. His sudden death was a tremendous loss by all who loved and knew him. John’s loving wife, Rose Mary Mack, and his family miss him dearly, but take comfort that he is reunited with his heavenly Father and that they now have someone special watching over them. Even in death, John continues to provide guidance for his loved ones.John was born in Dallas, TX on January 6, 1968, son of the late Preston E. and Juanita Mack, whom he loved dearly. He is survived by his spouse and soul mate, Rose Mary. They developed a close friendship upon their first meeting and for 25 years were inseparable from the moment they first held hands. John is also survived by step-son, Daniel De La Paz, his brother James Mack and his wife Connie, Debra Champagne, his sister, her daughter Tracey Jackson and her husband Tommy, as well as many extended family members who loved John and miss him very much.John was an ASE certified Master mechanic and Class A Diesel mechanic for many years, occupations he was very passionate about. He worked as a Manager at Consolidated Freightways in Dallas for nine years and was Director of Maintenance at Dependable Auto Shippers in Mesquite for 14 years. John graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Dallas and earned a BA from Cedar Valley College ― Lancaster in Business Administration and Mechanical Science. John enjoyed collecting mid-century modern antiques, watches and loved working on and restoring cars. He had a vast knowledge about everything mechanical concerning cars, trucks, diesel trucks and boats and was generous in sharing his skills and knowledge with others. An avid music lover, John enjoyed listening to all kinds of music and especially liked classic jazz, rock, heavy metal, and country and western music. A wonderful, self-taught chef, John enjoyed preparing elaborate home cooked meals for family and friends, and he loved to entertain. A devout Catholic, John had a heart of gold and always put others before himself. Known for his friendliness and sense of humor, John never met a stranger, and he enjoyed being of service to others. John’s was not only a life well lived, but he was also well loved by all who knew him and will continue to miss him always. Family will receive friends on Monday, April 17, 2017, from 9:00 AM- 10:00 AM in the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. Rosary will be held from 10:00 AM-10:30 AM with the service to follow at 10:30 AM in the Wildwood Chapel. Celebrate is Father Jonathan Austin, Pastor of St. Jude Catholic Chapel in Dallas. A reception will be held from 1:00 PM- 2:00 PM Restland Event Center.
